BRANDON NIMMO
Brandon Nimmo, one of the greatest players ever to hail from Wyoming, played for Post 6 from 2008-2011. He holds career marks in home runs, triples and walks. He holds the single-season batting-average record of .551 which he accomplished in 2011. He also holds records in single season on-base percentage (.683), career on-base percentage (.603), career batting average (.486) and career slugging percentage (.856).
Brandon was a 3-time state champion and multiple winner of State Tournament MVP and State Player of the Year awards. As a high-school junior in 2010 he participated in and was named MVP of the Under Armour All American Game.
On June 6th, 2011, during his senior season, the New York Mets drafted him as the 13th overall pick in the MLB Draft—the highest draft pick ever out of the State of Wyoming. He worked his way through seven levels of the minor league farm system with the Mets, won the 2016 Sterling Award as the Mets Minor League Player of the Year in 2016 and made his Big-League debut on June 26th, 2016. He currently is in the starting rotation with the Mets playing in the outfield.
Brandon lives in New York City with his wife Chelsea.
BRYCE NIMMO
Bryce played for Cheyenne Post 6 from 2000-2004 starting as an 8th grader. He was a 4-time state champ which started a run of eight consecutive State Championships for Post 6, a Wyoming record.
He holds many career records for Post 6, including 7 post-season pitching wins and 48 over his career, 27 complete games and is 2nd in career strikeouts with 331. As a hitter, he leads career marks with 525 hits, 120 doubles, 484 runs, 188 stolen bases and an RBI total of 334.
He continued his baseball career at the University of Nebraska from 2005-2008. He was an integral part of the 2005 Big 12 Champion Nebraska team, played in the 2005 College World Series and was a 3-year starting centerfielder for the Huskers. In his final season with Nebraska, he was recognized Honorable Mention All Big 12. He currently lives in Omaha with his wife Kiersten and daughter Everly.
JADE LAIN
Jade played on the Cheyenne Post 6 State Championship and Northwest Regional Runner-up team in 1991. He started coaching the next summer and has helped coach Post 6 ever since.
After winning a State Championship as a player, “Jader” has helped coach 15 Post 6 teams to state titles including 8 in a row and 15 of the last 17—an unprecedented run and record for Wyoming. During this incredible run he has also helped coach numerous State A and B State Championship teams.
Jade specializes as a pitching coach and has helped numerous players onto the college level—too many to count. He also has been a part of at least four players being drafted by the MLB. During his coaching career he has been involved in over 1,000 wins.
Jade Lain’s name is synonymous with Cheyenne Post 6 Baseball. He lives in Cheyenne with his wife Dallas and their children Rison, Nolan, Auggie and Bishopp.
JOHN COLEMAN PICKETT
John Pickett was an original member of the National Organization of the American Legion Junior Baseball program. He was the first State Representative for Wyoming. He helped start Post 6 Baseball in Cheyenne and the first two State Championships for Post 6 came under his guidance (1928 and 1931).
He played college baseball and basketball at the University of Nebraska (captain for both teams). He threw the first perfect igned game ball from that game is in the Nebraska Hall of Fame. He then played pro ball with the Chicago White Sox where he once struck out Babe Ruth.
MYLES MCVEIGH
Myles started his American Legion Baseball career in 2007 at the age of 15 with Cheyenne Post 6. Throughout his years with Post 6, McVeigh pitched several complete no-hit ballgames, helped Post 6 win four State Championships, and was a two-time First-Team All-State selection.
McVeigh also holds four career pitching records for Post 6 including number of strikeouts (451), games pitched (87), innings pitched (380.1), and games started (67). He continued his baseball career at the University of Akron where he graduated cum laude in 2014.
Working in the Cyber Security industry, McVeigh now resides in Copley, OH with his wife Lindsay.
ROBERT “BOB” NAB
US Navy veteran (‘44-’46) and retired Postal System (‘49-’80). Bob played for several Legion teams in Southeast Wyoming in the ‘40’s in between his military service.
He was heavily involved in the American Legion and Legion Baseball in some form beginning in 1946. Bob was a past American Legion Post 6 Commander and past State Baseball Commissioner for Wyoming. He was a past Post 6 Liaison to baseball for 17 years, helping run numerous state and regional tournaments. Additionally, he was very active in other youth activities sponsored by the Legion including Boys State, high school rodeo and Legion Oratorical contest.
RON NIMMO
Ron Nimmo played an integral and critical role for the Post 6 Baseball program throughout his tenure. He served on various baseball boards in Cheyenne for 18 years. He is a former member and past President of the Post 6 Baseball Board.
Ron was part of a team of individuals who spearheaded the building of Powers Field—the first turf field in the State. He also was a key member of individuals who started the Cheyenne Raptors—a traveling-team baseball program for players ages 8-14.
Ron had a heavy impact on baseball for all youth in Cheyenne and continues to be a huge supporter to this day. He lives in Cheyenne with his wife Patty and has three children: Bryce, Kristen and Brandon.
TAGG LAIN
When Tagg Lain was a kid, he watched the Cheyenne baseball programs go through one coach after another and struggle to stay alive. He vowed to change the system and make sure every kid in Cheyenne could play baseball.
Coach Lain began his coaching career as an assistant for the Hawks in 1987, at the young age of 21. He was often mistaken for a player. In 1991, he was named the Post 6 Program Manager and set out to change the landscape of baseball in Cheyenne.
Coach Lain was instrumental in helping to create the Raptors, a competitive travel team that readied players for the Post 6 Program. He worked closely with the City and the American Legion Board to build Powers Field and improve baseball facilities in Cheyenne. He created a Fall Baseball program in conjunction with several Colorado high schools, known as WYCO.
He also coached USA Baseball in North Carolina for 3 years, where he worked with the likes of Bryce Harper, Michael Wacha, Marco Gonzales and Brandon Nimmo. Coach Lain was also named a professional scout for the Texas Rangers and later, the Seattle Mariners.
In 22 years of coaching Post 6, Coach Lain won 14 state titles, finished runner-up in the Northwest Regional 3 times and won over 990 games. He sent countless players on to play college baseball. He had 4 former Post 6 players drafted by Major League Baseball. Coach Lain is one of the most respected baseball coaches in the country. Through his guidance, Post 6 and Cheyenne has become synonymous with excellence in baseball.
